Bega Cheese Bega Cup Day, Sunday, February 5
Our next race meeting is the Sky Gold Bega Cheese Bega Cup feature TAB day on Sunday, February 5.
This is our major race meeting of the year with greatly increased prizemoney and a tradition stretching back more than 130 years.
Bega Cup day features the running of the $27,000 Bega Cup 1600m, the $18,000 Bega Town Plate 1200m and the Sapphire Coast Cup, an $18,000 race for stayers over 2200m.
For the racing purists, this is the day to be at the track. The meeting brings together some of the top horses from the southern region of NSW as well as its leading trainers and jockeys.
Other highlights of the day include the Fashions on the Field competition with prizes including hotel stays in Sydney and the Bega Cup Calcutta conducted by the Bega Roosters on the Saturday night before the big race.
The day also features a Sky Channel live hosting on track, which means that it receives extra time on television around the country as the major meeting of the day conducted in NSW.
That television coverage provides great exposure for sponsors and the local area with all races being televised nationally and overseas, including to the home audience in Australia on Foxtel and Austar.
The first local race will be at about 1pm with gates open from 11.30am.
Admission is $15pp with children under 16 free, and a free jumping castle provided for their entertainment.
Reserved seating is available at $5pp in the Functions Centre with its great view of the track, and its own bar, flat screen TVs and tote monitors and even its own bookmaker to take your bets.
Top quality snack food and bar services will be operating along with a strong betting ring and EFTPOS is available on site.
